Hire guide

Practical safety and operating guidance for our trailers. Please read before collection or delivery.

Version 1.0.0 · Effective 13 August 2026

Our commitment

Inspected, serviced and ready.

All of our trailers are thoroughly inspected prior to every hire — a record of this can be shown at the time of collection. All trailers undergo annual servicing and receive a certificate of roadworthiness. We will ensure your desired trailer is suitable for your vehicle prior to your arrival for collection. If you have any doubts on the operation of any of our trailers our friendly team are always on hand to assist and offer advice.

General safety

Use equipment safely.

For information and advice on the suitability and safety of this type of equipment contact WW YourSpace Limited. There could be a risk of injury if you do not follow the instructions in this guide. This equipment should only be used by a competent or trained adult who has read or been briefed and understood these instructions. Ensure the floor of the work area is free from trip hazards. Never use the equipment if you are ill, tired or under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Always follow your own vehicle’s manufacturer’s instructions for vehicle towing capacity and weight limits.

Please place your own number plate into the number plate holder on the rear of the trailer. All of our number plate holders only support oblong number plates.

Please ensure the following prior to leaving site with one of our trailers:

  • The trailer is securely attached to your vehicle.
  • The jockey wheel is wound up and lifted to its highest position and secured using the fastener on the drawbar.
  • The handbrake is off.
  • The breakaway cable is fastened in the correct location — looping over the towbar is not secure; the trailer light plug is connected to your vehicle; and all lights are operational.

All doors and tailgates must be closed and secured whilst the trailer is in motion. Mirrors should be adjusted accordingly to suit the trailer you are towing; this may mean adding mirror extensions. Always ensure all wheels are securely fastened to the trailer axle, and tyres are in suitable condition especially after travelling over uneven surfaces.

Insurance

You must insure the trailer.

The Hirer is solely responsible for the insurance of the trailer. The hire price does not include insurance of the trailer. Most car insurance policies only include the legal minimum third-party cover for the trailer — this does not include damage or theft of the trailer. It is the responsibility of the hirer to arrange an extension of the vehicle policy or take out a separate trailer insurance policy.

Full contractual insurance requirements are set out in our terms and conditions.

Damage & cleaning

Return it as you received it.

The hired trailer shall be made available in a clean and serviceable manner to you. If the trailer cannot be returned in the same condition as it was collected/delivered you are responsible for any costs incurred to return the trailer to its original state. Any damage or cleaning fee will first be deducted from the security deposit; any charges incurred over and above this will be invoiced and payable within 30 days.

General safety

Never operate electrical switches with wet hands. Always switch off and unplug the equipment from the power supply before moving or cleaning. Check the equipment before use; if it shows signs of damage request a replacement.

Electrical safety

The equipment is designed to plug directly into a 240 volt, 16-amp socket; however electrically tested adapters have been supplied to plug into standard 13-amp sockets. Make sure the equipment and power socket are switched off before plugging into the power supply. If the equipment fails to operate or the power cable or plug become damaged, contact us — do not try to repair it yourself. Extension leads should be unwound fully; never run them through water, over sharp objects or where they may be a trip hazard; cable protection should be used to eliminate trip hazards. Use a suitable RCD (Residual Current Operated Device) to reduce the risk of electric shock.

Equipment care & transportation

When not in use, switch off and unplug the unit, then empty the contents. If the unit is to be unused for any length of time, store it with the door propped ajar or the unit may acquire a musty smell. Do not move or tilt the unit for a minimum of 20 minutes after switching off. Allow to thaw before thoroughly cleaning the interior. Do not use sharp objects, metal scrapers, wire brushes or wire wool pads as they can scratch the surface. Do not use bleach or any corrosive detergent as they will damage the surface of the unit. After cleaning with a mild detergent, always remove any residue with a damp cloth and wipe dry. The units should be transported in an upright position only. Once in situ allow 4 hours for the oil to settle before turning on. Failure to do so could result in damage being caused or failure to operate correctly.

Operating guide

Position the unit where it is to be used. This should be away from any heat source and with sufficient clearance all round for air circulation. Ensure that it is level. Apply the brakes on the braked castors if fitted. It is important that after the unit has been positioned, you allow 4 hours for the appliance to settle — failure to do so can damage the unit. Do not move or tilt the unit during use. The temperature should be pre-set but if not, turn the thermostat to a midway setting. Switch the unit on and leave the unit for 2–3 hours before placing food/drinks inside. If both raw and cooked meats are to be placed in the unit, they should be on separate shelves with the raw placed below the cooked. When loading or removing, ensure the door is closed correctly. If the door remains open for long periods, ice can build up on the walls of the unit and foodstuffs may be damaged.
